Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Cadrate ("Cadrate," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use cadrate.com (the "Service").
Cadrate is a discovery engine that helps you find movies and series by mood. We do not host, stream, or distribute any video content.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive a limited set of information from your Google account:
- Your email address
- Your name
- Your profile picture (avatar)
We use this only to create and identify your Cadrate profile and to associate it with your activity on the Service (see below). We do not request or receive access to your Gmail, Drive, or any other Google data beyond this basic profile information.
Activity you generate on Cadrate. This includes:
- Votes (upvotes/downvotes) on titles
- Comments you post
- Watchlist entries, if applicable
- Mood preferences you select
Automatically collected information. Like most websites, we may collect basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, primarily for security, abuse prevention, and understanding aggregate usage of the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Operate your account and keep you signed in
- Display your votes, comments, and profile on the Service
- Maintain the integrity of our voting system (one vote per user per title)
- Improve and secure the Service
- Communicate with you about your account, if necessary
3. What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
- We do not share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use your data to train third-party advertising profiles.
4. Third-Party Metadata Sources
Cadrate displays film and series metadata (titles, posters, cast, ratings, and similar information) sourced from third-party providers, including TMDb (The Movie Database), IMDb, and, where applicable, JustWatch for streaming availability ("where to watch") information.
This metadata belongs to its respective providers and is subject to their own terms and licenses. Cadrate does not claim ownership of this content; we use it to power discovery and are not responsible for its accuracy.
This product uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.
5. Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use essential cookies/session tokens to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences (such as your last selected mood). We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Data Retention & Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data and account at any time by contacting us at support@cadrate.com. Deleting your account will remove your profile information; votes and comments may be anonymized rather than deleted outright, to preserve the integrity of aggregate ratings, unless you specifically request full removal.
7. No Video Hosting
To be clear: Cadrate does not host, upload, stream, embed, or distribute any copyrighted video or audio content. We are a discovery and recommendation layer only. Any links to "where to watch" a title direct you to third-party, licensed streaming services.
8. Children's Privacy
Cadrate is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised policy.
